CityFibre, one of the UK’s largest independent full-fibre network providers, partnered with Nomios to expand and strengthen its network automation capabilities at a critical stage of growth.
CityFibre needed to expand specialist automation engineering capacity to support growing demand across key network service delivery capabilities, while also strengthening the underlying platforms and ways of working. Nomios embedded experienced automation consultants into CityFibre to accelerate delivery across network automation services and build strong platform and engineering foundations for long-term operational resilience.
The Challenge
As CityFibre’s growth plans accelerated through expansion and acquisition, pressure increased on the network automation platforms supporting provisioning and activation across the CityFibre network. CityFibre needed a partner that could provide immediate capability, integrate into existing teams, and contribute beyond short-term delivery support.
The challenge had two parts. They needed to expand engineering capacity without affecting quality across provisioning, activation, diagnostics, and migrations. In parallel, they needed to improve the maturity of their network automation platforms, strengthen standards, and avoid building technical debt so they could support long-term growth.
The Partnership
Nomios tailored an engagement model that fit CityFibre’s operating model and priorities. Our automation consultants aligned to CityFibre’s key processes, technical standards, and codebases early and were able to contribute from the outset.
Beyond delivery support, we brought external insight from proven approaches developed through Nomios’s automation and telco experience to help CityFibre review existing services and identify opportunities to optimise. This included enhancing code modularisation, evolving automated testing, and improving collaboration practices. We also highlighted practical changes that helped speed up delivery and support future growth.
The Outcome
CityFibre gained more than additional capacity. The engagement increased feature delivery and introduced more repeatable ways of working to support long-term growth.
CityFibre also adopted scalable engineering habits, patterns, and tools to support platform growth and maintainability. This reduced technical debt risk, improved how automation was organised and tested, and identified further opportunities to streamline delivery as demand continued to grow.
